Dr. David Jakinda Otieno is a Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics at    the University of Nairobi, Kenya. He  is an Alumni of the Association for Commonwealth Universities (ACU) with a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Agricultural Economics from Newcastle University, United Kingdom; Master of Science Degree (Agricultural Economics) from the University of Nairobi; and Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics (First Class Honors) from Egerton University, Kenya. He also attended a one-year postgraduate certificate training as a Young Professional (YP) in Public Policy Analysis, Macroeconomic Modeling, Econometric Analysis and Research Methods at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). David teaches Mathematics for Economists and Quantitative Analysis of Agricultural Policy at Postgraduate level. He also coordinates Agribusiness Management Programme in the Department and teaches various undergraduate courses including: Agribusiness & International Trade; Agricultural Market Strategies; and Managerial Economics. David has published peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapter and Discussion Papers focusing on agricultural commercialization/market participation, participatory policy design, institutional reforms and technology adoption. He regularly participates in professional research conferences/workshops and also reviews research papers and policy reports for various institutions. Current research interests include Agribusiness review; Assessment of land investments; and Analysis of the preferences of consumers and farmers for various policy issues.
