GESA ANNUAL DINNER

Geospatial Engineering Students Association held an Annual dinner at Sarova Panafric on 25th April, 2014.The event was attended by fifth year students, other students from the department and some lecturers. It was also marked by the attendance of professional companies which include Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK), Oakar Services, Geomaps and Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD).

There were presentations from the fifth year students companies and the members from the corporate world who were in attendance. The guest of honor (Dr Omar Farah; director of RCMRD) challenged the outgoing class on the need to remain competitive and have passion about the profession. He also cited examples of areas where the profession has taken dynamic change since its inception.

The Institution of Surveyors also offered to support the outgoing class by connecting them to other professionals in the field through the Geospatial chapter (graduate member) of ISK. There was a wonderful presentation by Oakar and Geomaps on the current changes in technologies in the profession especially in the area of GIS, Remote Sensing, and Survey & Mapping.

There was also an opportunity to carry out transition in the GESA executive committee where a handover ceremony took place and newly GESA elected committee members assumed office. We would still like to appreciate all students, lecturers and members of the corporate who participated in the event.
