The Upper Kabete Christian Union started way back in early 1972 as a branch of the Main Campus Christian Union (Kabete branch). During those days there were no formal meetings or meeting places within the campus and the membership comprised of only five people; Prof. Nyagah, Mr. Mutiga among others.

During those days, Prof. Allan B. Carls was the patron who helped these young believers in their worship matters. He also offered them transport to St. Andrews church for Sunday services.

The first committee was made up of two people; a chairman and a secretary because of having few members. By 1976 a larger executive committee was formed of about 7 people because the membership had increased. This executive committee pushed for the registration of the union as an independent body to the registrar of societies. An application letter was written and a constitution too (the first constitution for the union). This executive committee comprised of:

– Rahab Ngige – Vice Secretary
– Elizabeth Kabiru – Treasurer
– John Mwangi – Prayer and publicity Secretary
– Ben Omeke – Bookstall manager
– Francis Wahome – co- opted member

The constitution stated the name of the union would be ‘THE KABETE CAMPUS CHRISTIAN UNION’. This constitution also stipulated the aims, doctrinal basis, electral process, duties of office bearers and the amendment procedures to the union’s constitiution. The aims and the doctrinal basis are retained to date. These include:

Aims
· To deepen and strengthen the spiritual life of its members by the study of the Bible, by Prayer and Christian fellowship.

· To witness to the Lord Jesus Christ as God incarnate, and to seek to lead others to a personal faith in Him.
· To encourage responsible church membership.

Doctrinal Basis.

This contains the fundamental truths of Christianity which are:
a) The unity of the Father, son and Holy Spirit in the Godhead.
b) The sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgment.

c) The divine inspiration and entire trustworthiness of Holy Scripture as originary given and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
d) The universal sinfulness and guilt of all men since the fall, rendering them subject to God’s wrath and condemnation.
e) Redemption from guilt, penalty, dominion and pollution of sin sorely through the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ, the incarnate son of God.
f) The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead and His ascension to the right hand of God the Father.
g) The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration.
h) The justification of the sinner by the grace of God through faith alone.
i) The indwelling and work the work of the Holy Spirit in every believer.
j) The universal Church which is the Body of Christ and to which all true believers belong.
k) The expectation of the personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
l) The unity of all believers in Christ.

The first constitution was accepted by the registrar of societies and the Kabete Campus Christian union was officially registered on the 18th January 1977(Certificate No. 8123.). The union was registered under the following executive committee:

4. Julius K. Karia – vice secretary
5. Purity Kamanyuya – Treasurer
6. Isaiah Mbithi – bookstall manager and publicity secretary
7. Jack Nanua – prayer secretary

The leadership positions given were as stipulated in the constitution.
On 28th January 1978 the Union opened a saving account with the Barclays bank limited.
