Leaders Trip

On the date 30th May 2019, leaders went to a trip to Paradise Lost, Kiambu.

Different matters were discussed including the calendar of events which will be posted on the website.

Teamwork efforts to properly serve students were part of the discussions.

2019 ONUSS Elections

The organization of Nairobi University Science Students( ONUSS) is a professional body in the University of Nairobi- College of Biological and Physical sciences (CBPS).
For some people, election period is really exciting while for some…it’s really frustrating.
It comes different here in Chiromo and especially in ONUSS which is a body governed by stipulated rules and regulations that promote integrity among both leaders and students themselves.
On Friday 4th October 2019, ONUSS held elections for two positions as follows:
– First year Representative
– School of Biological Sciences( SBS) representative

From the office of Cooperate and social affairs, I’m glad to report that the elections were fair and very transparent. I believe in something very crucial..that you can be given the recipe for a certain dish…but you are the magic, those who had magical campaigns emerged winners and their names are listed below…

THE MR. AND MISS. CHIROMO 2018/19 PAGEANT

 

The Organisation of Nairobi University Science Students (ONUSS) held the Mr. and Miss. Chiromo 2018 on Friday, August 3rd, 2018.

This is an annual event in Chiromo Campus and this year was conducted under the theme “Youth as key foundation of the society” to put youths at a center stage in addressing issues that touch on creativity and innovation, the position of youth in the society and other issues towards sustainable development goals.

The Organisation of Nairobi University Science Students (ONUSS) is a professional body tasked with promoting welfare of science students,ensuring development of academic and social life skills as well as inculcating a sense of responsibility to the society by moulding its students to attain intellectual excellence. In view of this, various student activities, as stipulated in our calendar of events, have been organised with the aim of  ensuring students’ participation. This year’s key event was the Mr. and Ms. chiromo pageant that was scheduled to occur at the MILLENIUM HALL 1 in Chiromo Campus. The slogan for the event,” YOUTH AS KEY FOUNDATION OF THE SOCIETY” comes at a time when the societal structure has taken shape the places the youths in a very vital position. The youths are considered energetic and are so resourceful that the potential they wield could be tapped to achieve the most optimum of the desired result thus the key to every realistic achievement more so to the country’s blueprint. This  in turn is analogous to a heathy economy since the future of the youth is pegged on their ability to utilize available resources to generate income for sustainance by venturing in entreprenuership and scientific innovation as well as exploiting their talents to rip maximum benefits. Winners  of this event will be designated as worthy ambassadors mandated to propell the good will message on responsible behaviour , as a recipe for education growth.

 

The event started at around 7:30pm with dances from the models and hype session choreographed by Bradley Kiptoo (Mr essence Uasin gishu county) and Sarah M. Nyatichi (Miss Chiromo Campus 2017/18) after which we had the run way presentations by the contestants and lastly the quiz section related to general modeling and the personal experience of the models in that field

CBPS CAREER AND MENTORSHIP TALK

A powerful Career and Mentorship talk at SOB1 Friday 2nd March 2018 given by key facilitators the asst dean of students madam Lucy Gikundi and the student chancellor madam Lucy. Key speakers were the representatives from Milesview college who gave a talk on ISO certification in relation to the competitive market expectation and courses they offer. Dr. Sonal and Gurudev Sri Sri Shankar from Art of Living.

CBPS CHILDRENS HOME VISIT

April 21st marked the day at NATIONAL HIDDEN TALENTS ACADEMY  Dagoretti Corner Child Care Program. As their motto goes “we do everything by faith.” Visiting young talented Kenyans inspired by different circumstance coming from different background. Thanks to the Director Pastor Enos Baxic Oumo for giving them faith, hope and reasons to realize their destiny. May the Almighty God bless you always.

CBPS leadership training 2018.

On 20th April 2018 leadership training took place at Utalii hotel where Chiromo campus leaders were instilled with knowledge, skills and good values in relation to competent  leadership. The college principal Prof. Aduda, Dean’s and Directors from various schools within the college,asst dean of students madam Lucy Gikundi and student chancellor madam Lucy among other guest were in attendance. CBPS Mega Leadership Forum

CBPS MEGA LEADERSHIP FORUM 23rd March 2016 from 2.00-4.00p.m was the day when the mighty debate rolled on .
The debate included those aspiring for ONUSS chairperson positions and Secretary general,SONU campus representatives were also debated. The topics grilled upon included leadership as a whole, finances and managerial strategies; and Vision and competency to handle situations by making hard but correct decisions. Dr. Solomon Deresse from the Department of Chemistry commented on the need of student leaders to be all round and lead in every field including academics. He appreciated the organizers and thanked the outgoing chairman Mr.Japheth Odera for work well done during his reign in office.The Assistant Dean of students Mrs Lucy together with the student counselor Mrs Lucy Kamau were also present and wished the outgoing onuss officials well as they leave office. On his closing remarks the ONUSS icon and pace setter Mr. Japheth Odera wished all the candidates all the best, thanking the CBPS administration and fellow ONUSS outgoing committee for a job well done.
